The Royal Spanish Academy revealed the correct way to write it in Spanish. Here are the details.
When writing the time in Spanish, the only correct symbol to use is “h”, without periods, plurals, or extra letters. According to the standards of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and the International System of Units (SI), the abbreviation for hour is simply h — never hs or hrs.
So, the proper form is:
🎯La reunión es a las 16:00 h
Using “16:00 hs.” or “16:00 hrs.” is grammatically incorrect. The letter h already represents “hour,” and adding plural endings or periods does not make it clearer. It only breaks the rule.
This simple convention keeps written communication uniform and precise across Spanish-speaking countries. Whether it’s for schedules, event invitations, or digital posts, using the right form: 16:00 h shows attention to detail.
